R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Anna Pena of Mission has been selected to represent 1-2 the Texas Citrus Fiesta as Queen Citrianna the 60th, and this 1-3 singular distinction is truly worthy of special praise and 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Mission, Ms. Pena has been associated 1-6 with the Texas Citrus Fiesta since the age of eight, and she fondly 1-7 remembers working on the festival's parade floats with her father, 1-8 a former member of the event's board of directors; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Chosen in 1995 to represent Mission as the Duchess 1-10 of Star Ruby, Ms. Pena was picked as Princess Grapefruit Blossom 1-11 from among 34 contenders, elevating her to membership in the 1996 1-12 Texas Citrus Fiesta Court, and it was from this elite group that 1-13 she was selected to reign as Queen Citrianna the 60th for 1997; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An honors graduate of Mission High School, Ms. Pena 1-15 transferred from Southwest Texas State University to South Texas 1-16 Community College in McAllen in order to fulfill her duties as 1-17 Queen Citrianna, and she will represent the Texas Citrus Fiesta at 1-18 a number of parades and celebrations across the state, including 1-19 the San Antonio Fiesta Flambeau, the Poteet Strawberry Festival, 1-20 and Corpus Christi Buccaneer Days; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Ms. Pena's other interests include dancing, 1-22 sculpture, and reading, and this well-rounded young woman further 1-23 contributes to the community through her volunteer work for the 1-24 Central Texas Medical Emergency Room; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Anna Pena's many noteworthy accomplishments to date 2-2 point toward an equally bright future, and it is indeed a pleasure 2-3 to recognize this outstanding young Texan at this time; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby congratulate Anna Pena on her selection as Queen 2-7 Citrianna the 60th of the Texas Citrus Fiesta and welcome her on 2-8 the occasion of her visit to the State Capitol; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Ms. Pena as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-11 House of Representatives.
