R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the Tip of Texas Girl Scout Council on the occasion of its members' 1-3 visit to the State Capitol on March 13, 1997; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Since the council was chartered in 1954, it has 1-5 remained committed to the mission of its parent organization: "to 1-6 inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, 1-7 patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful 1-8 citizens"; and 1-9 WHEREAS, To carry out these ambitious goals, the members of 1-10 the Tip of Texas Girl Scout Council have ensured that their troops 1-11 have a variety of worthwhile activities from which to choose; the 1-12 council's enthusiastic scouts have had numerous opportunities to 1-13 demonstrate their civic responsibility through community service 1-14 projects, and their outstanding efforts in behalf of others have 1-15 helped to make South Texas a better place in which to live, work, 1-16 and rear a family; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In addition, these young Texans have greatly enjoyed 1-18 the many social events sponsored by the council, and the girls' 1-19 participation in such activities as mother/daughter lock-ins, the 1-20 father/daughter dance, the Girl Scouts Save the Sea Turtles 1-21 project, and Summer Sizzler on South Padre Island have provided 1-22 them with cherished memories that will surely last a lifetime; and 1-23 WHEREAS, By encouraging young women to exercise leadership, 1-24 explore career opportunities, and discover more about themselves, 2-1 the Tip of Texas Girl Scout Council builds the confidence, 2-2 self-awareness, and community spirit of our future leaders, and it 2-3 gives the members of this chamber great pleasure to recognize the 2-4 council for its remarkable efforts in this regard; now, therefore, 2-5 be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby honor the Tip of Texas Girl Scout Council for 2-8 its outstanding contributions to the young women of South Texas and 2-9 extend a warm welcome to its visiting members; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the Tip of Texas Girl Scout Council as an expression 2-12 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
