By Shields H.R. No. 309 75R7365 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, For many years, the San Antonio community has 1-2 benefited from the vision and leadership of Edward L. Wellberg, 1-3 Jr., and it is truly a pleasure to honor him at this time; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Wellberg began his distinguished career as an 1-5 agent with Washington National Insurance Company in 1969 and is 1-6 currently affiliated with Wellberg Associates, where he works 1-7 primarily in the area of executive and employee benefit planning 1-8 and retirement planning; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This respected businessman has made significant 1-10 contributions to his chosen field by serving in leadership 1-11 capacities with the state and local chapters of his professional 1-12 association; he has the unique distinction of having served in 1-13 every elected office of the San Antonio Association of Life 1-14 Underwriters and, in recognition of his exemplary commitment, was 1-15 named to its Hall of Fame in 1995, an honor granted to only 13 1-16 individuals in the past 70 years; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Wellberg has been active with the Texas 1-18 Association of Life Underwriters as well, serving as a regional 1-19 director, as chairman of its political action committee, and in 1-20 several other positions before becoming president of the 1-21 association in 1995, in which capacity he proudly serves today; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An acknowledged leader in his area of expertise, he 1-23 has generously shared his extensive knowledge and experience with 1-24 the next generation of insurance professionals as a lecturer at 2-1 local colleges and universities, and he had a profound effect on 2-2 issues vital to his field during three appointments to the State 2-3 Board of Insurance's Agent Continuing Education Advisory Council; 2-4 and 2-5 WHEREAS, His remarkable record of service has earned him 2-6 well-deserved acclaim, for Mr. Wellberg was selected for inclusion 2-7 in Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in Executives 2-8 and Professionals, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry; and 2-9 WHEREAS, Edward Wellberg's exceptional professionalism and 2-10 commitment to his work have been a great source of inspiration to 2-11 many people, and his noteworthy service indeed merits special 2-12 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby honor Edward L. Wellberg, Jr., for his 2-15 outstanding contributions to the San Antonio business community and 2-16 extend to him warmest best wishes for continued success and 2-17 happiness in all his future endeavors; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for Mr. Wellberg as an expression of high regard by the 2-20 Texas House of Representatives.
