                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On March 16, 1997, the Texas Historical Commission

 1-2     will honor the Nada Post Office with the dedication of an official

 1-3     Texas historical marker, recognizing the important role this

 1-4     institution has played in the community for more than 100 years;

 1-5     and

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Nada Post Office was established in 1894 by its

 1-7     inaugural postmaster, William J. Engbrock, Jr., who located the

 1-8     facility in the back of his father's general store; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Since its founding, the Nada Post Office has been

1-10     housed in a variety of different locations, often determined by the

1-11     profession of the postmaster serving at the time, but it has

1-12     continually provided a lifeline of communication for the members of

1-13     the community; and

1-14           WHEREAS, In 1987, the Nada Post Office relocated to its

1-15     current site, which was purchased from the Braden family, and its

1-16     staff has reliably served local residents from that location for

1-17     the past decade; and

1-18           WHEREAS, For more than a century, the Nada Post Office has

1-19     played a pivotal role in its city's history, and it is indeed

1-20     appropriate that this fine institution be given special legislative

1-21     recognition on this momentous occasion; now, therefore, be it

1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-23     Legislature hereby honor the many men and women who have served

1-24     their community as postal workers at the Nada Post Office and

 2-1     commend them for their unwavering dedication to their vital duties;

 2-2     and, be it further

 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-4     prepared for prominent display at the Nada Post Office as an

 2-5     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
