R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, On March 19, 1997, the members of Leadership Rowlett
1-2 will be visiting the State Capitol, and the occasion provides a
1-3 fitting opportunity for the members of this chamber to recognize
1-4 this fine civic organization; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce,
1-6 Leadership Rowlett is a program designed to develop leadership
1-7 skills among its participants by encouraging them to increase their
1-8 knowledge and become actively involved in problem solving through
1-9 dialogue with community leaders; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Leadership Rowlett was founded by Mayor H. K.
1-11 "Buddy" Wall, who continues to provide guidance and direction to
1-12 the program, and he is currently being assisted in his efforts by
1-13 Owen Lokken, Larry Butler, and Brent Williams; and
1-14 WHEREAS, By striving to gain a greater understanding of state
1-15 government and the ways in which the legislative process can affect
1-16 their community, these Texans have earned the respect and
1-17 admiration of their fellow citizens and their efforts truly merit
1-18 special recognition, as this type of commitment forms the very
1-19 backbone of the democratic process; now, therefore, be it
1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-21 Legislature hereby commend the members of Leadership Rowlett for
1-22 their outstanding community involvement and extend to them a warm
1-23 welcome on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol; and,
1-24 be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-2 for the members of Leadership Rowlett as an expression of high
2-3 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
