                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For many years, the Houston community has benefited

 1-2     from the leadership and guidance of Ramsay Gillman, and his recent

 1-3     selection as president of the National Automobile Dealers

 1-4     Association provides a most fitting occasion to honor him for his

 1-5     outstanding contributions; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Mr. Gillman began his lengthy and successful career

 1-7     in the automobile industry at the age of 12 when he assisted his

 1-8     father with a variety of tasks at Frank Gillman's Pontiac

 1-9     dealership; he has gone on to excel in his chosen field and is now

1-10     chief executive officer of the Gillman Companies, which employ 800

1-11     individuals at 13 stores throughout the Houston area; and

1-12           WHEREAS, This respected businessman has further contributed

1-13     to his profession in leadership capacities with the Mitsubishi

1-14     Dealer Council and with the state and local chapters of the

1-15     Automobile Dealers Association; he has been an active member of the

1-16     association's national chapter for the past eight years, serving as

1-17     a board member and as a line chairman before becoming president of

1-18     the association this year; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Gillman's outstanding achievements and expertise

1-20     earned him a prestigious appointment by the governor to the

1-21     six-member Texas Motor Vehicle Commission on which he served from

1-22     1984 to 1987, and effectively addressed a host of concerns vital to

1-23     both consumers and the automobile industry; and

1-24           WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has been sustained by the

 2-1     love and support of his family, which includes his beloved wife,

 2-2     Stephanie, and the couple's three children, Stacey, Jason, and

 2-3     Christopher; all of the Gillmans' children have chosen to pursue

 2-4     careers in the automobile industry, for Stacey is both an executive

 2-5     and a dealer principal with the Gillman Companies, Jason is a

 2-6     manager with that enterprise, and Christopher is studying

 2-7     automotive marketing at Northwood University in Dallas; and

 2-8           WHEREAS, Ramsay Gillman has left an indelible mark on the

 2-9     community he is proud to call home, and it is truly a pleasure to

2-10     recognize him on the occasion of his most recent honor; now,

2-11     therefore, be it

2-12           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-13     Legislature hereby commend Ramsay Gillman for his noteworthy

2-14     professional achievements and extend to him heartfelt

2-15     congratulations on his being named president of the National

2-16     Automobile Dealers Association; and, be it further

2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-18     prepared for Mr. Gillman as an expression of high regard by the

2-19     Texas House of Representatives.
