R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Shawn McMullan on August 18, 1-2 1996, at the age of 26, brought a great loss to the many friends 1-3 and relatives of this esteemed Iraan resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, One of the premier calf ropers in the country, 1-5 Mr. McMullan had achieved a remarkable degree of success in his 1-6 sport, having won rodeo events in San Antonio, Houston, Calgary, 1-7 and at the prestigious Cheyenne rodeo; he made four appearances in 1-8 the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association National Finals Rodeo in 1-9 Las Vegas, and was ranked seventh nationwide in calf roping during 1-10 1996; and 1-11 WHEREAS, When he wasn't out traveling on the rodeo circuit, 1-12 this fine young man was always ready to help his parents in 1-13 whatever way possible with the many tasks necessary to maintain 1-14 their sheep ranch; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. McMullan was a source of great pride to his 1-16 family, as well as to his community, and in recognition of his 1-17 hard-won success, the City of Iraan declared December 3, 1993, as 1-18 Shawn McMullan Day; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Shawn McMullan was a man of tremendous enthusiasm 1-20 and generosity; although he is gone from us now, his remarkable 1-21 spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose 1-22 lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be 1-23 it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor the life of Shawn McMullan and extend 2-2 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents, 2-3 Kenny and Glenda McMullan; to his sister, Mecca Jo McMullan; to his 2-4 grandmothers, Dorothy Friend and Laura McMullan; and to the many 2-5 other friends and relatives of this beloved young man; and, be it 2-6 further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-10 Shawn McMullan.
