R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, March 25, 1997, has been designated Corrections Day

 1-2     at the Capitol, and in honor of this significant occasion, the

 1-3     Texas House of Representatives is proud to welcome the 1,200

 1-4     members of the Texas Corrections Association to Austin; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Working in conjunction with crime victims throughout

 1-6     the state, these noteworthy professionals are helping to make Texas

 1-7     a safer place in which to live and work; during their visit to the

 1-8     Capitol, the association's members will meet with legislators to

 1-9     discuss corrections issues and ways of better promoting crime

1-10     prevention techniques among the residents of the Lone Star State;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, The Texas Corrections Association has implemented

1-13     many effective programs designed to fight crime at both the adult

1-14     and juvenile levels; criminal justice clients and staff will be on

1-15     hand at the Capitol to discuss these progressive programs and to

1-16     explain how they affect Texas' citizens; and

1-17           WHEREAS, The observance of Corrections Day provides both

1-18     lawmakers and citizens an opportunity to commend the many

1-19     professionals who proudly serve in this demanding field; in

1-20     addition, this day affords Texans the chance to recognize the

1-21     countless crime victims who work hand-in-hand with corrections

1-22     agencies in an effort to make Texas safer for everyone; now,

1-23     therefore, be it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-1     Legislature hereby recognize March 25, 1997, as Corrections Day at

 2-2     the Capitol and commend the members of the Texas Corrections

 2-3     Association for their many outstanding contributions to

 2-4     safeguarding the public; and, be it further

 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-6     prepared for the members of the Texas Corrections Association as an

 2-7     expression of highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
