                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, February 9, 1997, was certainly a special day for

 1-2     Florence Riley, for on that day she celebrated her 95th birthday in

 1-3     the company of her family and many friends; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Born in 1902 in the North Texas town of Dexter,

 1-5     Mrs. Riley grew up in the warm and loving home of her parents,

 1-6     James Madison and Lela Webb Chisum, in the community of Hibbitt,

 1-7     and she has passed her long and productive life surrounded by the

 1-8     verdant farmlands of North Texas; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, She married E. J. Riley on June 1, 1922, and this

1-10     blessed union produced three sons and three daughters, E. J.

1-11     "Sonny" Riley, Roy "Skeeze" Riley, Bill Riley, Margaret Sparkman,

1-12     Kathryn Hunter, and Sue Camp; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Always a devoted mother and wife, Mrs. Riley

1-14     dedicated her time and energy to the well-being of her family and

1-15     supported her husband as he taught the schoolchildren of the

1-16     surrounding communities; in addition to her own sons and daughters,

1-17     she has enjoyed the magnificent legacy of 14 grandchildren, 26

1-18     great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and

1-19           WHEREAS,  Through her commitment to her family and church,

1-20     this generous woman has earned the love and respect of all who know

1-21     her and has become a valued member of her community, and she is

1-22     indeed worthy of special recognition on this memorable occasion;

1-23     now, therefore, be it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-1     Legislature hereby congratulate Florence Riley on the occasion of

 2-2     her 95th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for

 2-3     continued happiness in the future; and, be it further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-5     prepared for Mrs. Riley as an expression of high regard by the

 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
