No. 389 75R8574 RVH-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed 1-3 a memorable occasion worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Charles C. and Laverne P. Martin recently had the 1-5 privilege of commemorating one such momentous occasion when they 1-6 celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 2, 1997; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Martin and the former Laverne Phillips were 1-8 united in matrimony in Fort Worth on March 1, 1947, and since then, 1-9 they have nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in love 1-10 and understanding with each passing year; their marriage was 1-11 blessed with three sons, Charles Martin, L. Wayne Martin, and Larry 1-12 Martin, and one daughter, Charlotte Martin Banard, and in recent 1-13 years their loving family has grown to include son-in-law Ronnie 1-14 Banard and daughters-in-law Vivian Martin, Kay Martin, and Janet 1-15 Martin, as well as nine grandchildren and seven 1-16 great-grandchildren; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Residents of Fort Worth for more than 50 years, 1-18 Mr. and Mrs. Martin have contributed greatly to the community in 1-19 spirit and deed as members of Lake Worth Baptist Church; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mrs. Martin was employed for many years at Northeast 1-21 National Bank before her retirement, while Mr. Martin, a veteran of 1-22 World War II, worked for the postal service for more than 39 years; 1-23 and 1-24 WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Martin have shared 2-1 a marriage filled with many happy times and cherished family 2-2 memories; built on a solid foundation of mutual love, trust, and 2-3 support, their remarkable 50-year union has long been a source of 2-4 joy and inspiration to the family and many friends of this 2-5 fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Laverne Martin on the 2-8 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-9 warmest best wishes for continued happiness in the future; and, be 2-10 it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Martin as an expression of high regard by 2-13 the Texas House of Representatives.
