R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association for its significant efforts 1-3 in behalf of Brenham High School; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Throughout the organization's history, members of 1-5 the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association have promoted the sport of 1-6 baseball at their alma mater, giving freely of their time, talents, 1-7 and resources to ensure that students at Brenham High School are 1-8 afforded the same joy from America's favorite pastime as their 1-9 predecessors have enjoyed; and 1-10 WHEREAS, On March 21, 1997, the Brenham Baseball Alumni 1-11 Association will dedicate a new clubhouse building at Fireman's 1-12 Park; this remarkable facility features artwork and photographs of 1-13 past Brenham baseball playoff teams, as well as college and 1-14 professional players who began their careers at the school; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The Brenham High School baseball teams' remarkable 1-16 legacy of excellence includes 11 state tournament appearances and 1-17 six state championships, and the program is one of the most storied 1-18 and respected in the Lone Star State; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Former Brenham High School players who have risen to 1-20 the top of their sport as players for professional baseball teams 1-21 include Jimmy Plant, Jackie Heidemann, Chuck Machemehl, Cecil 1-22 Cooper, Otto Kemper, Mark Kuecker, Gary Weiss, Ricky Seilheimer, 1-23 John Wood, David Crowson, Chris Graves, Carl Sullivan, James Nix, 1-24 John Schulte, Eric Richardson, George Preston, and Jordan 2-1 Zimmerman; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The citizens of Brenham are justly renowned for 2-3 their love of baseball, and by helping to preserve the rich 2-4 baseball heritage at Brenham High School, the Brenham Baseball 2-5 Alumni Association is performing a community service truly worthy 2-6 of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Brenham Baseball 2-9 Alumni Association for their significant contributions to the 2-10 students of Brenham High School and extend sincere best wishes to 2-11 them for continued success in the future; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association as an 2-14 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
