R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Dolph Beadle Moore on February 24, 1-2 1997, at the age of 81, has brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 many friends of this distinguished Texas businessman and civic 1-4 leader; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Bay City, Mr. Moore furthered his 1-6 education at Rice University; when he was a young man, he wed the 1-7 former Marta Wolff, and the couple enjoyed a happy and fulfilling 1-8 marriage until her passing; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This eminent gentleman was well known throughout the 1-10 Houston community for his successful career with Humble Oil and 1-11 Refining Company, which spanned 43 years until he retired in 1978; 1-12 Mr. Moore's tenure was highlighted by many significant 1-13 accomplishments, for he earned distinction as the youngest person 1-14 to be appointed party chief at the time and went on to excel in his 1-15 chosen field to direct the company's gravity research efforts 1-16 worldwide; and 1-17 WHEREAS, After retiring, he returned to the Bay City 1-18 community and contributed greatly to the betterment of that locale 1-19 through his active involvement with several organizations, 1-20 including the board of Bay City Main Street, the Bay City 1-21 Convention Center, and the board of the First National Bank of Bay 1-22 City, and his remarkable commitment earned him the heartfelt 1-23 gratitude of his fellow citizens; and 1-24 WHEREAS, A man of immense vision, Dolph Moore left an 2-1 indelible mark on the community he was proud to call home, and 2-2 though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will long 2-3 endure in the hearts and minds of all who were privileged to know 2-4 him; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th 2-6 Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dolph Beadle 2-7 Moore and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to 2-8 his daughter and son-in-law, Marta Moore Norwood and L. Paul 2-9 Norwood, Sr.; to his son and daughter-in-law, Dolph Beadle Moore, 2-10 Jr., and Blanche Montgomery Moore; to his two grandchildren and 2-11 their spouses, L. Paul Norwood, Jr. and Cissi W. Norwood and Sally 2-12 Norwood Blecher and Daniel Blecher; and to the many other friends 2-13 and relatives of this esteemed Texan; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-15 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-16 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-17 Dolph Beadle Moore.
