R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Antoine C. Spencer has committed himself to the 1-2 challenging and worthwhile work of making music, and his 1-3 outstanding contributions to the community are indeed worthy of 1-4 special praise and recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Spencer received his bachelor's degree in music 1-6 education from Texas Wesleyan University in 1988, and since that 1-7 time he has distinguished himself as both a talented performer and 1-8 an inspiring instructor; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In his role as accompanist to the Turtle Creek 1-10 Chorale, Mr. Spencer is an indispensable element of this talented 1-11 ensemble, and they have delighted audiences in many nations and 1-12 have performed in New York's legendary Carnegie Hall; a versatile 1-13 musician, Mr. Spencer also lends his gifts as a pianist to services 1-14 at White Rock Community Church; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Spencer is the choir director at 1-16 Hillcrest High School and Franklin Middle School in Dallas, and by 1-17 the example of his own enthusiasm and dedication, he instills a 1-18 love of fine music in his young charges; and 1-19 WHEREAS, His involvement in the life of his community extends 1-20 far beyond his work, and he is an active member of a number of 1-21 organizations, including the National Association for the 1-22 Advancement of Colored People, the Dallas Music Educators 1-23 Association, and the American Choral Directors Association; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Antoine Spencer's many noteworthy accomplishments in 2-1 the field of music have brought great joy to all those who have 2-2 heard him and his students perform, and his many admirers look 2-3 forward to enjoying his talent for many more years; now, therefore, 2-4 be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Antoine C. Spencer for his outstanding 2-7 accomplishments as a musician and educator and extend to him 2-8 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the 2-9 future; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Mr. Spencer as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
