R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Green Williams of Dallas for his significant efforts to make his 1-3 community a safer place in which to live, work, and raise a family; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas, he was a student at Booker T. 1-6 Washington High School, but following the untimely death of his 1-7 father, he gave up his studies to help support his family; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams proudly served his nation with 1-9 distinction for four years as a member of the U.S. Army, and after 1-10 completing his military service, he returned home to Texas and 1-11 accepted a position with Matthews Engineering; he later became a 1-12 valued employee at Cooper Aircraft, where he earned the respect of 1-13 his coworkers by taking on a variety of roles during his 12 years 1-14 with that company; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Now retired, Mr. Williams is currently a participant 1-16 in the Volunteer in Patrol organization, a group of concerned 1-17 citizens who patrol the North Park/Love Field area of Dallas to 1-18 help ensure the safety of local residents and their belongings; and 1-19 WHEREAS, He is also a member of the North Park/Love Field 1-20 Civic League, the Neighborhood Environment, and the K. B. Polk 1-21 Advisory Council; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A man of deep and abiding religious conviction as 1-23 well, Mr. Williams is an active member of St. Luke Baptist Church 1-24 and serves the congregation there as a trustee; and 2-1 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, this fine gentleman has 2-2 enjoyed the love and support of his devoted wife of 40 years, Ruby, 2-3 and he is an inspiration to her as well as to their six children 2-4 and eight grandchildren; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Green Williams has given freely of his time and 2-6 energy to provide a greater sense of security to the members of his 2-7 community, and his many contributions in this regard are indeed 2-8 worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 2-9 therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby honor Green Williams for his commendable service 2-12 to his fellow citizens and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-13 continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-15 prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the 2-16 Texas House of Representatives.
