R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Diane Ragsdale has dedicated herself to the
1-2 betterment of the Dallas community, and her hard work and
1-3 commitment to excellence in this regard are indeed deserving of
1-4 special legislative recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A graduate of James Madison High School,
1-6 Ms. Ragsdale earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from
1-7 Dallas Baptist University; from 1984 to 1991 this remarkable woman
1-8 served on the Dallas City Council, during which time she served for
1-9 four years as deputy mayor pro tem, and she remains active on the
1-10 political scene today; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Ms. Ragsdale has supported many commendable causes
1-12 and bases her political platform on the principle of
1-13 self-determination; her long-standing goal as a public servant has
1-14 been to empower the members of her community both politically and
1-15 economically, while at the same time developing educational
1-16 opportunities and emphasizing cultural uniqueness; and
1-17 WHEREAS, This admirable woman is a founding member of many
1-18 community service organizations, including the Martin Luther King,
1-19 Jr., Family Health Clinic and the Common Ground Community Economic
1-20 Development Corporation; she has served on the American Heart
1-21 Association Neighborhood Task Force and is a prominent backer of
1-22 neighborhood preservation projects as well as community-based crime
1-23 control and prevention initiatives; and
1-24 WHEREAS, A lifelong member of Kirkwood Temple CME,
2-1 Ms. Ragsdale continues to set an outstanding example for her fellow
2-2 citizens, and the efforts of this visionary individual have
2-3 rightfully earned her honor and praise at this time; now,
2-4 therefore, be it
2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-6 Legislature hereby commend Diane Ragsdale for her many years of
2-7 service to the citizens of Dallas and extend to her sincere best
2-8 wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to come;
2-9 and, be it further
2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11 prepared for Ms. Ragsdale as an expression of high regard by the
2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
