R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Marye Cravin Nobles for her exceptional contributions to the field 1-3 of public education; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A graduate of Tuskegee University, Ms. Nobles earned 1-5 master's degrees from the State University of Iowa and North Texas 1-6 State University; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Well known for her career in education, she retired 1-8 in 1991 after 42 years of outstanding service as both a teacher and 1-9 a counselor in the Dallas Independent School District; and 1-10 WHEREAS, An educator in the truest sense of the word, 1-11 Ms. Nobles further broadened the learning experience of countless 1-12 students by giving generously of her time and talents as a sponsor 1-13 of many school activities, including the girls' pep squad, the 1-14 girls' cheerleading squad, the Allied Youth Club, the National 1-15 Junior Honor Society, and the National Honor Society; and 1-16 WHEREAS, This remarkable lady has continued to work for the 1-17 betterment of her community through her involvement with several 1-18 civic organizations, including the Dallas Black Dance Organization, 1-19 the Martin Luther King Library Board, the Dallas Women's 1-20 Foundation, and the Black Chamber of Commerce; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In addition, she has helped to preserve the region's 1-22 rich heritage in leadership capacities with both the Historic 1-23 Preservation League and the Dallas County Heritage Society, and as 1-24 a touring guide during the Black History Month Celebration at Old 2-1 City Park, she shared her appreciation of the area's vibrant past 2-2 with many others; and 2-3 WHEREAS, A former president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, 2-4 she has been active with the Priscilla Art Club as well, and her 2-5 stalwart service to many area youth organizations has brought her 2-6 well-deserved acclaim; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Marye Nobles has enhanced the quality of life in the 2-8 Dallas community in numerous ways, and her exceptional commitment 2-9 is a source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know her; 2-10 now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby commend Marye Cravin Nobles for her exceptional 2-13 civic and professional involvement and extend to her warmest best 2-14 wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be 2-15 it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-17 prepared for Ms. Nobles as an expression of high regard by the 2-18 Texas House of Representatives.
