R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
1-2 who have shared 65 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a
1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Robert E. Brown, Jr., and Lillie M. Brown of San
1-5 Antonio will have the privilege of commemorating such a momentous
1-6 event in their lives when they celebrate their 65th wedding
1-7 anniversary on April 12, 1997, with a festive dinner; and
1-8 WHEREAS, The couple first met at San Antonio's West End
1-9 Baptist Church in 1929, and they made a lifelong commitment to each
1-10 other when they shared their wedding vows at Mount Olive Baptist
1-11 Church in Waelder on April 3, 1932; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the couple has nurtured an
1-13 enduring relationship that has grown in love and respect with each
1-14 passing year and that has been blessed with two sons, Robert III
1-15 and Charles, who are both retired United States Army colonels; and
1-16 WHEREAS, In all their endeavors, the Browns have been
1-17 sustained by their shared faith as devout members of the West End
1-18 Baptist Church, where Mr. Brown began worshipping in 1919 and his
1-19 wife joined the Sunday after their marriage; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Now surrounded by a loving family that has grown to
1-21 include six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, the Browns
1-22 still look forward to each day of their life together with the same
1-23 enthusiasm that first sparked their romance more than six decades
1-24 ago; and
2-1 WHEREAS, For 65 years, Robert E. Brown, Jr., and Lillie M.
2-2 Brown have shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many
2-3 happy times and cherished family memories; built on a solid
2-4 foundation of mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage has
2-5 been a source of joy and inspiration to the many friends and family
2-6 of this fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Robert E. Brown, Jr., and Lillie M.
2-9 Brown on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary and extend
2-10 to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
2-11 further
2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by
2-14 the Texas House of Representatives.
