                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For many years, the San Antonio community has

 1-2     benefited from the vision and leadership of Dr. William H. Hadnott,

 1-3     and he is indeed worthy of special praise and recognition at this

 1-4     time; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A native of Beaumont, Dr. Hadnott was graduated from

 1-6     Wiley College before earning his medical degree from The University

 1-7     of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1957; he has maintained his

 1-8     involvement with the medical school as a member of its Alumni

 1-9     Advisory Committee on Minority Affairs for more than 20 years and,

1-10     more recently, he became a member of the President's Cabinet; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Dr. Hadnott is highly regarded throughout the

1-12     community for his service on the staff of Humana Hospital San

1-13     Antonio, as chairman of the department of anesthesiology at Baptist

1-14     Medical Hospital Systems, and as chief of anesthesiology and chief

1-15     of staff at Nix Medical Center; his remarkable commitment to the

1-16     healing profession has earned him the heartfelt gratitude of his

1-17     fellow San Antonians; and

1-18           WHEREAS, This respected physician has further contributed to

1-19     the medical arts as an educator; he began his lengthy and rewarding

1-20     tenure with The University of Texas Health Science Center as an

1-21     instructor 28 years ago, and has served that institution as a

1-22     professor of anesthesiology since 1981; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Both a fellow of the American College of

1-24     Anesthesiologists and a diplomate of the American Board of

 2-1     Anesthesiology, he has generously shared his abundant knowledge and

 2-2     experience with his colleagues as a member of several professional

 2-3     organizations, including the state and national chapters of the

 2-4     Society of Anesthesiologists and the Medical Association, the

 2-5     International Anesthesiology Research Society, the San Antonio

 2-6     Surgical Society, and the Bexar County Medical Society; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, Dr. William Hadnott has contributed to both his

 2-8     state and his community in countless ways, and it is most

 2-9     appropriate that the members of this chamber join in recognizing

2-10     his outstanding achievements; now, therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-12     Legislature hereby honor Dr. William H. Hadnott for his exemplary

2-13     service to his fellow Texans and extend to him warmest best wishes

2-14     for continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors;

2-15     and, be it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-17     prepared for Dr. Hadnott as an expression of high regard by the

2-18     Texas House of Representatives.
