R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For many years, the people of Texas have benefitted

 1-2     from the vision and leadership of Charles Moore, and it gives the

 1-3     members of this chamber great pleasure to honor him at this time;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Moore is the son of former State Representative

 1-6     Grady Moore, who admirably served the people of Red River County

 1-7     during the 49th and 50th legislative sessions; Charles Moore

 1-8     maintained his father's legacy of commitment both through his

 1-9     service to the Texas Legislature and through his involvement in

1-10     public affairs; and

1-11           WHEREAS, During the 51st and 52nd Texas Legislatures, Charles

1-12     Moore served as the lone clerk for five legislative committees,

1-13     adeptly managing a host of responsibilities while also pursuing his

1-14     education at The University of Texas at Austin; he later shared his

1-15     interest in state and local government with his fellow Texans as

1-16     owner, editor, and publisher of Texas Local Government Official

1-17     Review and as a correspondent for Texas Weekly; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Mr. Moore moved to Alaska in 1951 and remained

1-19     involved in legislative issues in that locale as well, attending

1-20     the territory's constitutional convention before returning to the

1-21     Lone Star State in 1956; and

1-22           WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding work in these areas,

1-23     he is also highly regarded for his achievements in the private

1-24     sector; a pioneer in Alaska's oil and gas industry, he enjoyed a

 2-1     successful venture in our state as both an independent oil operator

 2-2     and as an industry consultant for 40 years; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, This eminent gentleman has also drawn on his

 2-4     abundant skills to assist humanitarian efforts, and as the senior

 2-5     trust officer of the Christian Endowment Fund, he has helped to

 2-6     support numerous missionary efforts worldwide; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, Charles Moore has worked for the betterment of his

 2-8     fellow citizens in myriad ways, and his exceptional commitment is a

 2-9     source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know him; now,

2-10     therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-12     Legislature hereby commend Charles Moore for his exceptional

2-13     contributions in behalf of others and extend to him warmest best

2-14     wishes for continued success and happiness in all his future

2-15     endeavors; and, be it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-17     prepared for Mr. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas

2-18     House of Representatives.
