R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Frankie Grimmett has consistently devoted his time
1-2 and energies to the betterment of his community; and
1-3 WHEREAS, This inspirational individual is a graduate of
1-4 Snyder High School, where he demonstrated exceptional athletic
1-5 ability in football and basketball; for his efforts he was voted to
1-6 the all-district football team for three years and also was
1-7 honorable mention all-district in basketball; and
1-8 WHEREAS, He continued his academic and athletic excellence as
1-9 a scholarship student at Texas Christian University, earning
1-10 accolades as most valuable squadman in 1969 and most valuable
1-11 offensive lineman in 1970 before receiving his degree in business
1-12 in 1972; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Returning to Snyder after completing his higher
1-14 education, Mr. Grimmett brought his unique abilities and tireless
1-15 work ethic to bear as a guiding force at Grimmett Bros., Inc.,
1-16 where he has worked for more than two decades; during that time he
1-17 has labored ceaselessly to improve conditions within his community;
1-18 and
1-19 WHEREAS, Mr. Grimmett has recently devoted his time and
1-20 energies to the much-needed renovation of baseball fields in Towle
1-21 Park; he also is actively involved as a coach in the Snyder Little
2-1 League program and served as All-Star Little League coach in 1994;
2-2 and
2-3 WHEREAS, In honor of his many civic contributions,
2-4 Mr. Grimmett was designated as a recipient of the Hometown Spirit
2-5 Award by the Snyder National Bank and also received the Bill Vestal
2-6 Mayor Award for community development from the chamber of commerce;
2-7 and
2-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Grimmett has been supported in all his many
2-9 endeavors by his wife, Patty, a volleyball and track coach at
2-10 Snyder High School, and his son, Matthew; and
2-11 WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Frankie Grimmett has sought to
2-12 ensure a brighter future for all those within his community, and
2-13 his many exceptional achievements as a volunteer are indeed worthy
2-14 of special praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-16 Legislature hereby commend Frankie Grimmett for his many notable
2-17 contributions to the betterment of his community and extend best
2-18 wishes to him for continued success in the future; and, be it
2-19 further
2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-21 prepared for Mr. Grimmett as an expression of high regard by the
2-22 Texas House of Representatives.
