R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Dr. Bennie LeBleu has brought 1-2 a great loss to the many friends and relatives of this esteemed 1-3 physician and servant of the Lord; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born in Houston, the son of 1-5 Bennie and Genevieve LeBleu and, in his youth, served his country 1-6 as a member of the U.S. Navy and Army and obtained degrees from 1-7 Rice University and The University of Texas Medical School at 1-8 Galveston; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Dr. LeBleu took as his bride the former Frances Tate 1-10 on June 15, 1954, in Huntsville and, shortly thereafter, the 1-11 LeBleus moved to Rotan, where Dr. LeBleu established a successful 1-12 medical practice and the couple were blessed with a fine family of 1-13 five children; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This outstanding physician was a respected leader in 1-15 the medical community who was recognized by the American Academy of 1-16 Family Physicians and held membership in the Texas Medical 1-17 Association and the American Medical Association; and 1-18 WHEREAS, In addition to the high regard in which he was held 1-19 as a physician, Dr. LeBleu also enjoyed a fine reputation among the 1-20 citizens of his community for his genuine interest in helping 1-21 others; a dedicated Boy Scout volunteer for a number of years, this 2-1 fine gentleman also was a devout Christian who was a member of the 2-2 First Baptist Church and, in November 1994, had served as a member 2-3 of a medical missionary team that traveled to Guatemala, where he 2-4 touched the lives of many people through his skill as a 2-5 practitioner and his kindness as a true humanitarian; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Dr. Bennie LeBleu was a man of extraordinary 2-7 commitment and energy who demonstrated a rare spirit of caring and 2-8 concern that made the world around him a better place to be; though 2-9 he will be deeply missed, the memory of this remarkable gentleman 2-10 will long endure in the hearts of all who were privileged to know 2-11 him; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby pay tribute to Dr. Bennie LeBleu and extend 2-14 deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-15 Frances LeBleu of Rotan; to his sons, David LeBleu of Abilene, 2-16 Steve LeBleu of Rotan, and Ricky LeBleu of Sweetwater; to his 2-17 daughter, Rebecca Helms of Harker Heights; to his grandchildren, 2-18 Dray Paul and Donald Wray Helms III of Harker Heights and Cayley 2-19 and Lacey LeBleu of Sweetwater; to his sister, Betsy Curry of 2-20 Fairfax, Virginia; to his brothers, Maurice LeBleu of Brenham and 2-21 Jonathan LeBleu of Houston; and to the many other friends and 2-22 relatives of this fine man; and, be it further 2-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-24 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-25 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 3-1 Dr. Bennie LeBleu.
