                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious

 1-2     natural resource, and the dedicated professionals entrusted with

 1-3     their education are truly deserving of our heartfelt gratitude; one

 1-4     such teacher is Elizabeth Jenkins of Snyder, and on the occasion of

 1-5     her retirement, it is indeed appropriate to recognize her for her

 1-6     many years of public service; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, A teacher since 1956, Ms. Jenkins has worked in the

 1-8     Snyder area for more than four decades, and during her tenure she

 1-9     has been witness to remarkable changes in education including the

1-10     end of segregation in the public schools; nevertheless, the

1-11     essential element of successful learning remains the relationship

1-12     between teacher and student, and through the years hundreds of

1-13     young people have benefited from her profound commitment to their

1-14     welfare; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Her numerous contributions to the community have not

1-16     gone unnoticed; in 1991, she was honored with the Community Service

1-17     Award, and Snyder National Bank featured her in one of their

1-18     "Bright Spots in Our Hometown" ads; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Even as she begins a new chapter in her life story,

1-20     Ms. Jenkins can look back on her career with pride and

1-21     satisfaction, and it is fitting at this time to acknowledge her

1-22     many contributions to the field of education; now, therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby honor Elizabeth Jenkins on the occasion of her

 2-1     retirement and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued

 2-2     success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it

 2-3     further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-5     prepared for Ms. Jenkins as an expression of high regard by the

 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
