R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious

 1-2     natural resource, and excellence in public education is an endeavor

 1-3     in which all Texans have a stake; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, East Side Elementary School in Del Rio has been

 1-5     recognized by Texas Monthly magazine as one of the state's most

 1-6     outstanding schools, and this remarkable accomplishment is indeed

 1-7     worthy of special praise and recognition; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, The magazine's rankings were based on the

 1-9     performance of students on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills

1-10     (TAAS) test, and designations of from one to four stars were

1-11     assigned to the state's best schools; and

1-12           WHEREAS, East Side Elementary School's rating of four stars

1-13     is a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of the

1-14     school's students, parents, faculty, and staff, and under the

1-15     leadership of principal Roberto Zaragoza, this talented team looks

1-16     forward to meeting new challenges and opportunities in the years to

1-17     come; now, therefore, be it

1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-19     Legislature hereby commend all those associated with East Side

1-20     Elementary School for its designation as one of the state's top

1-21     schools and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued

1-22     success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

1-23           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

1-24     prepared for display at East Side Elementary School as an

 2-1     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
