                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a

 1-3     memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Vaughn and Kathryn Williams of Gainesville recently

 1-5     had the privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their

 1-6     lives when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on

 1-7     February 28, 1997; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, United in matrimony in the community of Whitesboro,

 1-9     the Williamses have nurtured an enduring relationship that has

1-10     grown in love and respect with each passing year and that has been

1-11     blessed with a son, Steven Craig Williams; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Williams is retired after many years of public

1-13     service, having benefited his community as a member of the local

1-14     police force, as a deputy sheriff, and as a supervisor at the state

1-15     school; Mrs. Williams pursued her career interests as well and is

1-16     retired from nursing after three decades of faithful service to her

1-17     fellow citizens; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Now deservedly reaping the many benefits of their

1-19     full life together, Mr. and Mrs. Williams find they have more time

1-20     to participate in their favorite leisure activities, and they

1-21     greatly treasure the time they spend with their family, which has

1-22     grown to include their daughter-in-law, Becky Williams, and their

1-23     beloved grandson, Michael Wayne Williams; the couple also share a

1-24     deep faith as active members of Grand Avenue Baptist Church; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, For a half-century, Vaughn and Kathryn Williams have

 2-2     shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times

 2-3     and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of

 2-4     mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage has indeed been a

 2-5     source of joy and inspiration to the many friends and family of

 2-6     this fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it

 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-8     Legislature hereby congratulate Vaughn and Kathryn Williams on the

 2-9     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them

2-10     warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further

2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-12     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Williams as an expression of high regard

2-13     by the Texas House of Representatives.
