R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 welcome the students and teachers of Cuellar Middle School's 1-3 pre-advanced placement program to the State Capitol on March 25, 1-4 1997; and 1-5 WHEREAS, These seventh and eighth grade students are 1-6 participating in a unique program that prepares them for the 1-7 challenges offered by high school advanced placement course work; 1-8 the program focuses on the development of the higher-level thought 1-9 processes that students must master in order to grasp the concepts 1-10 of the high school advanced placement curriculum; and 1-11 WHEREAS, With the 75th Legislative Session in full swing, the 1-12 Capitol is abuzz with activity and offers these young people a 1-13 chance to see their state government functioning at its dynamic 1-14 best; their visit affords them the exciting opportunity to witness 1-15 members of the legislature as they debate issues and pass bills 1-16 that directly affect our state's residents; and 1-17 WHEREAS, These Weslaco residents will also have the 1-18 opportunity to take advantage of the Capitol Complex's many superb 1-19 educational resources; the outstanding collection of art and 1-20 documentation housed on the grounds provides an exceptional source 1-21 of information for those interested in the chronicles of this vast 1-22 and varied region; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda 1-24 and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young 2-1 and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas and to 2-2 gain insight into the workings of our state legislature, and the 2-3 members of this chamber are pleased to commemorate this worthwhile 2-4 visit; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby welcome the students and teachers of Cuellar 2-7 Middle School's pre-advanced placement program and extend to them 2-8 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the 2-9 years to come; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for these outstanding Texans as an expression of high 2-12 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
