R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, For many years, the people of Bosque County have 1-2 benefitted from the vision and leadership of Raymond Homer Whitney, 1-3 and he is indeed deserving of special praise and recognition at 1-4 this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A former director of the Bosque County Appraisal 1-6 District, Mr. Whitney is well known for his involvement in the 1-7 areas of agriculture and natural resources, and he offered wise and 1-8 thoughtful guidance in leadership capacities with the Childress 1-9 Creek Water Supply Corporation before becoming director of the 1-10 Bosque County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1989, in 1-11 which capacity he serves today; and 1-12 WHEREAS, In addition, this eminent Texan was a committeeman 1-13 with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and 1-14 was active with the Bosque County Hay Show and Agriculture Tour, 1-15 having graciously hosted a tour of his farm in 1986; his 1-16 exceptional agricultural practices have earned him great renown 1-17 throughout the years, for he was named Outstanding Conservation 1-18 Farmer in 1968 and was honored for excellence in grazing management 1-19 by the Texas Section of the Society for Range Management in 1993; 1-20 and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mr. Whitney has further contributed to the 1-22 betterment of his community through his service to the American 1-23 Cancer Society, the Valley Mills Lions Club, and the Bosque County 1-24 Historical Commission, and he has had a lasting effect on public 2-1 education in the area as a former member of both the Valley Mills 2-2 and the Bosque County school boards; his impressive efforts in 2-3 these and other initiatives have earned him the heartfelt gratitude 2-4 of his fellow citizens; and 2-5 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has been sustained by his 2-6 abiding faith as a lifelong member of the Cayote United Methodist 2-7 Church, which honored him for his remarkable contributions with its 2-8 Outstanding Person Award in 1996; and 2-9 WHEREAS, His dedication to his community is surpassed only by 2-10 his love for his family; Mr. Whitney is the beloved spouse of 2-11 Valeria Whitney and the proud father of six children; more 2-12 recently, the Whitneys have welcomed the addition of 12 2-13 grandchildren into their close-knit family; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Raymond Whitney has enhanced the quality of life in 2-15 Bosque County in numerous ways, and his exceptional commitment is a 2-16 source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know him; now, 2-17 therefore, be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-19 Legislature hereby commend Raymond Homer Whitney for his 2-20 exceptional civic and professional involvement and extend to him 2-21 warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness in all his 2-22 future endeavors; and, be it further 2-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-24 prepared for Mr. Whitney as an expression of high regard by the 2-25 Texas House of Representatives.
