R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great

 1-2     pleasure in welcoming the members of Boy Scout Troop 283 in Utopia

 1-3     to the State Capitol today; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, This dynamic group of youngsters and their sponsors

 1-5     will have the opportunity to tour the Capitol Complex and get a

 1-6     glimpse of Texas' unique heritage; the outstanding collection of

 1-7     art and documentation that is housed on the Capitol grounds

 1-8     provides an exceptional source of information for those interested

 1-9     in the role of our state government and the chronicles of our great

1-10     state; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Members of Boy Scout Troop 283 include Stephen Diaz,

1-12     Harley Culver, Forrestt Walker, A. J. Triner, Clevland Caraway,

1-13     Travis Sutherland, Gary L. Davis, James Long, Chance Dean, J. R.

1-14     Hurst, Cody Davis, Dustin Gobert, and Junior Assistant Scoutmasters

1-15     Wes Sutherland and Bain Walker; since the establishment of their

1-16     troop on June 8, 1995, these dedicated young people have earned

1-17     more than 100 merit badges between them, and many of these fine

1-18     scouts are well on their way to attaining the rank of Eagle Scout;

1-19     and

1-20           WHEREAS, Scoutmaster Gary Davis and Assistant Scoutmaster

1-21     Ruby Hurst have received tremendous support from  troop committee

1-22     members Janna Davis, Chris Calk, Carol Calk, Bill Dean, Annette

1-23     Long, and Dixie Dean; and

1-24           WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda

 2-1     and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young

 2-2     and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas and to

 2-3     gain insight into the workings of our state legislature, and the

 2-4     members of this chamber are pleased to commemorate this worthwhile

 2-5     visit; now, therefore, be it

 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-7     Legislature hereby welcome the members of Boy Scout Troop 283 to

 2-8     the State Capitol and encourage them to embrace the long and

 2-9     fascinating history of the Lone Star State; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-11     prepared for Boy Scout Troop 283 as an expression of high regard by

2-12     the Texas House of Representatives.
