R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Barbers Hill High School Lady Eagles basketball

 1-2     team from Mont Belvieu has captured the 1997 Class 3A State

 1-3     Championship, and this accomplishment is indeed deserving of

 1-4     special legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles posted an impressive 37-4 record on

 1-6     their road to the state title, and their crowning victory was yet

 1-7     another in a long line of typical team efforts exhibited by these

 1-8     talented teens; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, This year's positive conclusion will no doubt be

1-10     savored by team members for many years to come, and the result has

1-11     created a great deal of excitement among the team's returning

1-12     members about the possibilities for next season; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Head Coach Pennee Hall has schooled these young

1-14     women in the finer points of basketball while instilling in her

1-15     charges the virtues of academic excellence and good sportsmanship;

1-16     vital support was provided by assistant coaches Leslie Green, Sam

1-17     Oglesby, Melynda Collins, and Barbara Ponder, and trainer Mark

1-18     Collins, and the cumulative efforts of these individuals helped

1-19     keep the Lady Eagles competitive throughout the course of their

1-20     grueling season; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Dedication to excellence both individually and as a

1-22     team has been a hallmark of the Lady Eagles, whose team members

1-23     include Lauren Brownfield, Amanda Bullion, Leslie Church, Charla

1-24     Denmon, Jennifer Dover, Laci Farmer, Aarika Florus, Alison Fox,

 2-1     Alyce Gregory, Danyelle Grimes, Rachel Herrington, Amber Kirkham,

 2-2     Shana Lofaso, Adrienne McGill, Julie Sandefur, Jackie Sanders,

 2-3     Michelle Viverette, and Terri Volter; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, These exemplary young women, as well as their

 2-5     coaches and staff, are a tremendous source of pride for the

 2-6     students and faculty of Barbers Hill High School, and it is indeed

 2-7     a privilege to join their many supporters in the community in

 2-8     honoring them at this time; now, therefore, be it

 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-10     Legislature hereby congratulate Head Coach Pennee Hall and the

2-11     Barbers Hill High School Lady Eagles on winning the Class 3A State

2-12     Basketball Championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for

2-13     continued success in the years to come; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-15     prepared for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high

2-16     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
