                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Kountze High School Lions boys' basketball team

 1-2     has achieved outstanding success during the 1996-1997 season,

 1-3     earning a berth in the Class 3A tournament in Austin for the first

 1-4     time in two decades and completing the campaign with a record of 31

 1-5     wins against only five defeats; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Having captured the District 23 3A championship, the

 1-7     Lions took bidistrict, area, and regional titles en route to the

 1-8     state tournament, and the team members earned the respect and

 1-9     admiration of all who witnessed their performance; and

1-10           WHEREAS, The season's outstanding accomplishments were the

1-11     result of a total team effort from players Chris Anderson, Josh

1-12     Hancock, Dahlon Lee, Mike Clemons, Fred Wright, Justin Moore,

1-13     Trovon Morgan, Paul Mayo, Chris Miller, Clint Lightsey, Zeb Carey,

1-14     Bryan Eppes, and Chris Johnson; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Head coach David Green, Jr., schooled his charges in

1-16     hardwood fundamentals and enabled his players to perform at the

1-17     highest level, both individually and as a team, and he was ably

1-18     supported in his efforts by assistant coaches Clint Williams and

1-19     James Harper; and

1-20           WHEREAS, This group of dedicated young men, along with their

1-21     coaches and staff, have been a source of tremendous pride to the

1-22     students and faculty at Kountze High School and their many

1-23     supporters in the community, and it is indeed appropriate that they

1-24     receive special legislative recognition in light of their athletic

 2-1     accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate the Kountze High School Lions boys'

 2-4     basketball team on its exceptional achievements during the

 2-5     1996-1997 season and extend sincere best wishes for continued good

 2-6     fortune in the future; and, be it further

 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-8     prepared for the team members and coaching staff as an expression

 2-9     of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
