No. 468 75R9251 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The East Chambers High School Lady Buccaneers 1-2 basketball team from Winnie is to be commended for its exceptional 1-3 season and for providing longtime fans with many great memories; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Lady Buccaneers earned a semifinal berth in the 1-6 Class 2A state championship tournament and posted an impressive 1-7 33-4 record; en route to their tournament appearance, the team 1-8 captured the Region 3 Class 22-AA championship, and their 1-9 outstanding season has returning team members looking forward to 1-10 next year with great optimism; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Dedication to excellence both individually and as a 1-12 team has been a hallmark of the Lady Buccaneers, whose team members 1-13 include Brooke Bauer, Shalyn Harmon, Brandi Hanna, Mary Sonnier, 1-14 Onie Melgoza, Bree Melgoza, Sandy Gabriel, Jeni Stelly, Kati 1-15 Fitzgerald, and Christy Baker; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Head Coach David Penny has schooled his young 1-17 players in hardcourt fundamentals while at the same time instilling 1-18 in them the virtues of academic excellence and good sportsmanship, 1-19 and he was ably supported in his efforts by Assistant Coach Jeff 1-20 Lee and Manager Quintella Johnson, whose additional guidance helped 1-21 to keep the team competitive throughout its grueling season; and 1-22 WHEREAS, These talented young women, along with their coaches 1-23 and staff, are a tremendous source of pride for the students and 1-24 faculty of East Chambers High School and their many supporters in 2-1 the community, and the team's extraordinary season has rightfully 2-2 earned them special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate the East Chambers High School Lady 2-5 Buccaneers on their outstanding season and extend to them sincere 2-6 best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high 2-9 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
