No. 492 75R9898 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, May 24, 1997, marks the second anniversary of Benito 1-2 Carmona, Sr.'s, passing; and 1-3 WHEREAS, Mr. Carmona was born April 20, 1926, in San Luis 1-4 Potosi, Mexico; when he was a young man, he married Maria Pilar 1-5 Villanueva, and the couple nurtured a happy and fulfilling union 1-6 that spanned 51 years; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Carmona moved from South Texas to Terrell in the 1-8 early 1950s to provide a better opportunity for his family; he 1-9 worked at a variety of jobs over the course of the years and was a 1-10 valued employee of the Terrell Independent School District before 1-11 he retired in 1994; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He will be fondly remembered as a devoted family 1-13 member, and his commitment to his wife, children, grandchildren, 1-14 and great-grandchildren was a source of inspiration to all who knew 1-15 him; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The qualities that endeared him to so many emanated 1-17 from his deep faith as a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and 1-18 he further served the religious community as a member of the 1-19 Knights of Columbus; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Benito Carmona, Sr., 1-21 touched the lives of many people, and as the second anniversary of 1-22 his death approaches, it is indeed appropriate that we reflect on 1-23 this fine man's life; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Benito Carmona, Sr., 2-2 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-3 beloved wife, Maria Carmona; to his daughters and sons-in-law, 2-4 Anita and Joe Cruz, Aurora and Dennis Barrientos, Eva and Steven 2-5 Hernandez, and Sylvia and John Garcia; to his sons and 2-6 daughters-in-law, Benito Carmona, Jr., and Margaret Carmona, 2-7 Fernando Carmona, David Carmona, and Rick and Lisa Carmona; to his 2-8 brothers, Lusio Carmona and Ambrosio Carmona; to his sisters, 2-9 Grabelia Carmona and Lupe Martinez; to his grandchildren and 2-10 great-grandchildren; and to the many other friends and relatives of 2-11 this esteemed gentleman; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-14 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-15 Benito Carmona, Sr.
