R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two exceptional Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed

 1-3     a momentous occasion deserving of special praise and recognition;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, E. L. "Doc" and Jolene Farrell of Rockdale had the

 1-6     privilege of commemorating such a memorable event in their lives

 1-7     when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 17,

 1-8     1997; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Doc and Jolene Farrell were united in matrimony in

1-10     Nacogdoches in 1947, and since then, they have nurtured an enduring

1-11     relationship that has grown in love and understanding with each

1-12     passing year; their marriage has been blessed with three children,

1-13     Dudley Farrell, Dwayne Farrell, and David Farrell, and in recent

1-14     years their loving family has grown to include eight grandchildren;

1-15     and

1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell worked selflessly to provide a

1-17     safe and secure home for their family; Doc Farrell was gainfully

1-18     employed by Aluminum Company of America before his retirement in

1-19     1984; Mrs. Farrell worked as a school teacher for many years before

1-20     retiring from Rockdale Independent School District in 1984; and

1-21           WHEREAS, These young retirees are making the most of their

1-22     leisure time; Mr. Farrell spends his free time working on his farm

1-23     in the Forest Grove community, while Mrs. Farrell dedicates her

1-24     time to working  with several civic organizations for the

 2-1     betterment of the Rockdale community; both are active members of

 2-2     Rockdale Christian Church; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, For half a century, Doc and Jolene Farrell have

 2-4     shared a marriage filled with many happy times and cherished family

 2-5     memories; their enduring 50-year union is an inspiration to their

 2-6     family and friends, and it is indeed appropriate that they be

 2-7     honored at this time; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Doc and Jolene Farrell on the joyous

2-10     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them

2-11     warmest best wishes for many more years of continued happiness;

2-12     and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Farrell as an expression of high regard

2-15     by the Texas House of Representatives.
