R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Witt Steves of San Antonio on
1-2 March 19, 1997, at the age of 57, has brought a great loss to the
1-3 family and many friends of this esteemed Texan; and
1-4 WHEREAS, The son of David and Mary Steves, he was born
1-5 January 4, 1940; he wed Patti Steves, and the couple nurtured a
1-6 happy and fulfilling union that was blessed with two lovely
1-7 daughters; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Steves will be remembered for his unwavering
1-9 commitment to his family, and his devotion to his wife, children,
1-10 and grandchildren was an inspiration to countless individuals; and
1-11 WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Robert Steves touched the lives
1-12 of many people, and though his presence will be deeply missed, his
1-13 memory will surely endure in the hearts and minds of all who came
1-14 to know and love him; now, therefore, be it
1-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-16 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Witt Steves
1-17 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
1-18 beloved wife, Patti Steves; to his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan
1-19 and John Thompson and Sarah and Fred Lichter; to his five
1-20 grandchildren, William Steves Thompson, John Arthur Thompson IV,
1-21 Andrew Fitch Thompson, Rachel Catherine Lichter, and Daniel Hollis
1-22 Lichter; to his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mollie and Bartell
1-23 Zachry and Sallie and Phillip Peacock; to his brother and
1-24 sister-in-law, David and Vera Steves; and to his many other friends
2-1 and relatives; and, be it further
2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-3 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-4 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-5 Robert Witt Steves.
