R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, January 27, 1997, was indeed a special day for

 1-2     Collins and Jerlean Shular of San Antonio, for on that day they

 1-3     celebrated their 30th year of marriage; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, To commemorate this blessed event, the Shulars were

 1-5     joined by their family and friends for a program that was presided

 1-6     over by the Reverend Kevin Nelson of New Birth Baptist Church and

 1-7     included a number of special tributes and songs; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Shular and the former Jerlean Glover were united

 1-9     in marriage on January 27, 1967, after a seven-year courtship; they

1-10     were introduced by their mutual friends, Waymon and Charles

1-11     Anderson, and the two couples spent many happy times together; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Shular is

1-13     a barber who opened his first shop in 1950; Mrs. Shular is a

1-14     licensed child-care operator whose "In Home Day Care" has allowed

1-15     her to care for her own grandchildren while also providing a

1-16     nurturing environment for many other children; and

1-17           WHEREAS, The Shulars  are deeply proud of Mr. Shular's son,

1-18     Thomas, and they are the grandparents of Corey, Tanya, and Lesly

1-19     Shular; the newest member of the Shular clan is great-granddaughter

1-20     Shantell, and this beautiful bundle of joy has "Mama Shular" and

1-21     "Big Daddy" beaming with pride; and

1-22           WHEREAS, For 30 years, Collins and Jerlean Shular have

1-23     enjoyed a strong and lasting marriage filled with much happiness

1-24     and cherished family memories; their relationship has been a

 2-1     continuing source of pride and inspiration to their family and

 2-2     friends, and it is truly appropriate that they be honored at this

 2-3     time; now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby congratulate Collins and Jerlean Shular on their

 2-6     30th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for

 2-7     continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it

 2-8     further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shular as an expression of high regard by

2-11     the Texas House of Representatives.
