R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dr. James W. Simpson has spent a lifetime working to 1-2 safeguard the health and welfare of his fellow Texans, and it is 1-3 indeed fitting at this time to recognize his many contributions to 1-4 the common good; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi, Dr. Simpson received his 1-6 medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at 1-7 Galveston, and when he first opened his medical practice in his 1-8 hometown, he was the city's only trained cardiologist; since that 1-9 time he has gone on to specialize in pediatric cardiology and to 1-10 oversee the development of a series of lifesaving outreach clinics 1-11 throughout South Texas; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Currently the chief of pediatric cardiology at 1-13 Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Dr. Simpson also 1-14 maintains hospital privileges at 22 area health care facilities, 1-15 and he shares his vital wealth of experience with medical students 1-16 in his capacity as professor at The University of Texas Medical 1-17 Branch at Galveston and at the Baylor College of Medicine; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Professional peers and patients alike hold Dr. 1-19 Simpson in the highest esteem, and this regard is aptly expressed 1-20 in the construction of the James W. Simpson M.D. Catheterization 1-21 Laboratory in Corpus Christi; a valuable addition to the area's 1-22 health care facilities, the laboratory will commemorate Dr. 1-23 Simpson's achievements in the most appropriate fashion possible: 1-24 by serving the community; and 2-1 WHEREAS, James W. Simpson's life and work stand as eloquent 2-2 testament to the ability of one committed individual to make the 2-3 world a better place, and his many remarkable accomplishments are 2-4 truly worthy of every Texan's admiration and gratitude; now, 2-5 therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby honor Dr. James W. Simpson for his many years of 2-8 service to his fellow Texans through his skilled practice of 2-9 medicine and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-10 success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Dr. Simpson as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
