No. 535 75R10542 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On April 11, 1997, the Texas Department of 1-2 Transportation will honor Dimmit County Airport with its 1997 1-3 Achievement Award for Most Improved Airport, and this singular 1-4 distinction is indeed worthy of special praise and recognition at 1-5 this time; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Under the direction of airport manager Ernest 1-7 Martinez, Dimmit County Airport has been transformed into a 1-8 thriving air transportation center; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Drawing on the support of County Judge Charles 1-10 Johnson and County Commissioner Rodrigo Jaime, Mr. Martinez brought 1-11 about a number of beneficial changes at the airport, including the 1-12 acquisition of a new terminal building and the removal of trees and 1-13 brush from the airport's south end, all while ensuring the 1-14 facility's compliance with Federal Aviation Administration 1-15 guidelines; and 1-16 WHEREAS, These notable improvements have already attracted 1-17 new business, and manufacturing and petrochemical firms are among 1-18 the revamped airport's steady customers; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Encouraged by the scope of their accomplishments, 1-20 Mr. Martinez and his staff look forward to adding new hangar space 1-21 to the facility, as well as a hotel and restaurant, and they will 1-22 no doubt bring to these new challenges the same dedication and 1-23 skill that have had such a striking effect on Dimmit County Airport 1-24 to date; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Dimmit 2-3 County Airport on its receipt of the 1997 Achievement Award for 2-4 Most Improved Airport and extend to them sincere best wishes for 2-5 continued success in the years to come; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for display at Dimmit County Airport as an expression of 2-8 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
