R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Bluebonnet Girls State program is devoted to 1-2 promoting patriotism and citizenship training among Texas' young 1-3 women, and the American Legion Auxiliary is proud to sponsor this 1-4 valuable program; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This year, 586 high school girls from across the 1-6 Lone Star State will participate in this educational and 1-7 constructive training program, and in keeping with annual 1-8 tradition, these dedicated young women will again visit the State 1-9 Capitol, where they will conduct their own legislative session; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Bluebonnet Girls State seeks to instill a sense of 1-11 pride in each of the young women who participates in this program, 1-12 while also developing vital skills and abilities that can be 1-13 applied in future endeavors; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily endorses 1-15 the goals and objectives of Bluebonnet Girls State and applauds the 1-16 American Legion Auxiliary for sponsoring this outstanding program; 1-17 now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby grant Bluebonnet Girls State permission to use 1-20 the house chamber, provided that the house is not in session and 1-21 subject to house rules and policies of the Committee on House 1-22 Administration, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on June 23, 1997, and on 2-1 June 22, 1998, for the purpose of conducting their own legislative 2-2 sessions.
