R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The 60th wedding anniversary of two notable Texans
 1-2     is indeed an occasion worthy of special praise and recognition, and
 1-3     on September 11, 1997, Bennie and Evelyn Allen of Bryan will
 1-4     celebrate one such remarkable event; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, Mr. Allen worked in the
 1-6     fields of construction, aviation, and education before returning to
 1-7     his first occupation, ranching, and he has brought his
 1-8     characteristic energy and determination to each of these endeavors
 1-9     in turn; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mrs. Allen has likewise distinguished herself as a
1-11     vital and valued member of the community, and is active in a number
1-12     of organizations, including the A&M Garden Club, of which she is a
1-13     past president, and the Brazos Valley Art League; a gifted
1-14     musician, she often performs for the residents of the Sherwood
1-15     Nursing Home, the University Hills Nursing Home, and the Brazos
1-16     Valley Geriatric Center; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Devoted members of the Church of Christ, Mr. and
1-18     Mrs. Allen have drawn strength and spiritual sustenance from their
1-19     fellow worshipers, and their presence in the congregation is a
1-20     welcome one; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Mr. and Mrs. Allen have
1-22     derived their greatest joy and satisfaction from their large and
1-23     loving family, and they take great pride in their son and
1-24     daughter-in-law, Melvin Allen and Kathy Allen; their daughter and
 2-1     son-in-law, Patricia Ann Allen Howard and Eudean Howard; their
 2-2     grandchildren, Sonja Allen Holder, Brandon Benjamin Allen, Ashley
 2-3     Allen, Michelle Howard Tarhini, Dean Allen Howard, Brent Howard,
 2-4     and Patrick Howard; and their great-grandchildren, Sarah Tarhini,
 2-5     Chad Tarhini, and Ross Tarhini; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, For 60 years, Bennie and Evelyn Allen have enjoyed a
 2-7     relationship that continues to grow in mutual regard and affection,
 2-8     and it is indeed fitting at this time to celebrate their life
 2-9     together; now, therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives of the 75th
2-11     Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Benjamin A. Allen and Evelyn
2-12     Lois Pullen Allen on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary
2-13     and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-14     happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Allen as an expression of high regard by
2-17     the Texas House of Representatives.
