                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Emma Marie Pace Head on March 15,

 1-2     1997, has brought a great loss to the family and many friends of

 1-3     this beloved lady; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The daughter of a former state representative, she

 1-5     was born April 20, 1921, in Gainesville and was graduated from

 1-6     Gainesville Junior College; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Mrs. Head was an accomplished singer and musician

 1-8     with a beautiful voice, and she learned to play both the guitar and

 1-9     the piano at an early age; throughout her lifetime, she delighted

1-10     her many friends and relatives with her lovely melodies; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Her outstanding talent brought her great acclaim,

1-12     for when she was a young woman, she sang on the radio with her

1-13     sisters, Jean and Ruby, as the "Leisure Trio," and she later

1-14     performed with a championship barbershop quartet; and

1-15           WHEREAS,    While residing in San Antonio, Mrs. Head was

1-16     executive assistant to the chief of protocol for HemisFair; she

1-17     retired from Texas Pharmacal, having earned distinction as the

1-18     first female pharmaceutical salesperson in the state; and

1-19           WHEREAS, During her lifetime, Marie Head touched the lives of

1-20     many people, and though her presence will be deeply missed, her

1-21     memory will surely endure in the hearts and minds of all who knew

1-22     and loved her; now, therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Emma Marie Pace Head

 2-1     and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her

 2-2     beloved husband of nearly 55 years, William Tremaine Head, Sr.; to

 2-3     her son, William Tremaine Head, Jr.; to her sister and

 2-4     brother-in-law, Jean and John Webb; to her sister-in-law, Katherine

 2-5     Pace; to her brothers-in-law, Andrew Blackburn and  Carl Chapman;

 2-6     and to her many other friends and relatives; and, be it further

 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-8     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

 2-9     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-10     Emma Marie Pace Head.
