R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Both as a businessman and as a civic leader, Calvin 1-2 McAdams has contributed greatly to the betterment of the Houston 1-3 community, and he was recently named an Outstanding Texan by the 1-4 Texas Legislative Black Caucus at its Education and Research 1-5 Committee Weekend Celebration; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Houston, he is the owner of 1-7 McAdams Enterprises, Inc., and the Sportsman Club Supreme and has 1-8 been in business continuously for more than 37 years, operating 1-9 such popular establishments as the Ebony Club, Club 500, the 1-10 Eldorado Ball Room, Calvin's Double Disco, and Club Razzmaz Tazz; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Despite his many professional demands, he has 1-13 consistently made time in his busy schedule to serve several civic 1-14 organizations, and his exemplary involvement has brought him 1-15 well-deserved recognition from both the TSU Alumni Association and 1-16 Radio Station KTSU; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed gentleman was honored 1-18 with the Distinguished Service Award from the Progressive Amateur 1-19 Boxing Association for his continued support of its youth boxing 1-20 program; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and 1-22 support of his devoted wife, Edith McAdams, and the couple's two 1-23 children, Chester and Ouidilee; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Calvin McAdams has enhanced the quality of life in 2-1 the Houston community in numerous ways, and his exceptional 2-2 commitment is a source of inspiration to all who are privileged to 2-3 know him; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Calvin McAdams for his exemplary 2-6 professional and civic involvement and extend to him warmest best 2-7 wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be 2-8 it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. McAdams as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
