                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Ray Davis of Cherokee County has been named the

 1-2     first recipient of the Texas Department of Transportation's

 1-3     Personal Achievement Award, and this singular honor is truly worthy

 1-4     of special praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, For seven years Mr. Davis has served as coordinator

 1-6     for Cherokee County Airport, and his remarkable efforts have

 1-7     transformed the airport from a sleepy way station in poor condition

 1-8     to an efficient and bustling business transportation center; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. Davis's commitment to Cherokee County Airport is

1-10     evident from the wide range of tasks he has undertaken in its

1-11     behalf; in addition to personally overseeing maintenance of the

1-12     runway and electrical systems, he has solicited new business and

1-13     funding for the airport so successfully that eight new hangars have

1-14     been constructed during his tenure, and the waiting list for hangar

1-15     space attests to the wisdom of these additions; and

1-16           WHEREAS, The stature of commerce and industry in Texas is

1-17     built on the skill and dedication of the state's transportation

1-18     professionals, and through his rehabilitation of Cherokee County

1-19     Airport Ray Davis has distinguished himself as an outstanding asset

1-20     to aviation in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Ray Davis on receiving the Texas

1-23     Department of Transportation's 1997 Personal Achievement Award and

1-24     extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and

 2-1     happiness in the years to come; and, be it further

 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-3     prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas

 2-4     House of Representatives.
