                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     the congregation of Lake Worth United Methodist Church for its

 1-3     faithful service to the Lake Worth community; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The church was established in 1938 and moved to its

 1-5     current location in 1964; the Reverend Frank Briggs became head

 1-6     minister of the church in 1990, and under his charismatic

 1-7     leadership, the congregation has experienced an exceptionally

 1-8     vibrant period of growth, with membership increasing each year as

 1-9     more people come to hear the good news of the Lord; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Since its founding nearly 60 years ago, Lake Worth

1-11     United Methodist Church has been a leading force in the community,

1-12     and it currently operates an "open door" policy enabling charitable

1-13     organizations, schools, and family groups to use its facilities on

1-14     a regular basis; home to many music recitals performed by area

1-15     youth, the Family Center serves as the meeting place for the local

1-16     Boy Scout troop and the YMCA, while the church's other facilities

1-17     serve as practice sites for local school sports teams; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Among the many people who attend Lake Worth United

1-19     Methodist Church is Representative Sue Palmer, who has been an

1-20     active member of the congregation for more than three years, during

1-21     which time  the church has played an important role in the lives of

1-22     her family members; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Throughout the church's proud history, the ministers

1-24     of Lake Worth United Methodist Church have provided outstanding

 2-1     religious leadership and moral guidance to the members of this fine

 2-2     congregation, and it is indeed a great pleasure to honor a visiting

 2-3     delegation from the church on this occasion; now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby commend the Reverend Frank Briggs and the

 2-6     members of Lake Worth United Methodist Church for the many

 2-7     significant contributions they have made to their community; and,

 2-8     be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for Lake Worth United Methodist Church as an expression of

2-11     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
