R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The State of Texas is home to nearly 12 percent of 1-2 the Lockheed Martin Corporation's workforce in the United States; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin helps fuel the engines of economic 1-5 growth in the State of Texas, operating 49 facilities and employing 1-6 21,000 people throughout the state; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin is an integral member of the Texas 1-8 business community, with a statewide payroll of more than $1 1-9 billion; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin's business operations generate $2.5 1-11 billion in business for nearly 1,800 Texas subcontractors and 1-12 vendors, including $400 million for 200 small minority-owned and 1-13 women-owned Texas businesses; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin is an outstanding corporate citizen 1-15 of the State of Texas, contributing more than $2 million annually 1-16 in charitable donations plus countless hours of employee volunteer 1-17 time to state and local educational, cultural, and service 1-18 organizations throughout the state; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin's Texas companies set the standard 1-20 for excellence in aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, space operations 1-21 and launch vehicles, information systems, environmental 1-22 remediation, logistics management, training and technical services, 1-23 and state and local government services; and 1-24 WHEREAS, The midsection of the F-22 aircraft, the air 2-1 dominance fighter for the 21st century, is manufactured at Lockheed 2-2 Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems in Fort Worth, and the F-22 will 2-3 provide 2,000 jobs for Texans within the next four years; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The official roll-out of the F-22 is set for April 2-5 9, 1997, and this significant event is indeed deserving of special 2-6 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby recognize April 9, 1997, as Lockheed Martin Day 2-9 at the Capitol.
