R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Juanita Ramsey of Jasper on March 29,

 1-2     1997, at the age of 72, has brought a great loss to the family and

 1-3     many friends of this beloved woman; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Ms. Ramsey was born July 13, 1924, in Wiergate, and

 1-5     along with her twin sister, Wenora Ramsey, began her career with

 1-6     the office of the secretary of state in 1953 and retired in 1983

 1-7     after more than 30 years of exceptional service to the State of

 1-8     Texas; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Ms. Ramsey moved to the Jasper community after her

1-10     retirement, where her warm and caring nature earned her the

1-11     affection of many individuals; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Heir to a rich family heritage, she was a cousin of

1-13     the Honorable Ben Ramsey, a former lieutenant governor, secretary

1-14     of state, and railroad commissioner; and

1-15           WHEREAS, During her lifetime, Juanita Ramsey touched the

1-16     lives of many people, and though her presence will be deeply

1-17     missed, her memory will surely endure in the hearts and minds of

1-18     all who came to know and love her; now, therefore, be it

1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-20     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Juanita Ramsey and

1-21     extend sincere sympathy to her sister, Wenora Ramsey, and the many

1-22     other friends and relatives of this esteemed Texan; and, be it

1-23     further

1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-1     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of

 2-2     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juanita

 2-3     Ramsey.
