No. 602 75R10377 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On the morning of August 19, 1995, Andrew Montgomery 1-2 helped to save the life of a severely injured woman by employing 1-3 some of the valuable skills he learned as a member of International 1-4 Troop No. 156 of the Boy Scouts of America; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Montgomery, who was 11 years old at the time, 1-6 came across a crowd of people surrounding an unconscious woman near 1-7 the Galveston seawall; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Realizing that immediate action was necessary, this 1-9 remarkable young man rushed to the woman's side and, using his 1-10 extensive life-saving training, began to administer treatment for 1-11 shock; eventually an emergency medical services team arrived and 1-12 transported the woman to a local hospital, where she received a 1-13 blood transfusion and further treatment; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This courageous young citizen's quick thinking and 1-15 preparedness helped to save a life that day, and his forethought 1-16 and decisiveness are an inspiration to all Texans; to date, 1-17 Mr. Montgomery has earned 63 merit badges, and he has recently 1-18 completed his Eagle Scout project, the final step toward attaining 1-19 Eagle Scout status; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Andrew Montgomery is not only an exemplary scout but 1-21 an extraordinary human being, and the members of this chamber are 1-22 proud to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby commend Andrew Montgomery for his heroism and 2-1 bravery and extend warmest congratulations to him as he prepares to 2-2 attain the honorable rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Mr. Montgomery as an expression of highest regard by 2-5 the Texas House of Representatives.
