R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 1-2 extend sincere best wishes to President Bill Clinton for a quick 1-3 and complete recovery from his recent accident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Although this unfortunate incident has forced the 1-5 president to rely on crutches and a wheelchair for mobility, his 1-6 knee injury has undoubtedly helped to make him more aware of the 1-7 many difficulties that physically challenged individuals face each 1-8 and every day; and 1-9 WHEREAS, An array of obstacles, from staircases to narrow 1-10 hallways or steep inclines, continually confront millions of 1-11 disabled Americans; routine activities such as getting out of bed 1-12 in the morning and getting dressed cannot be taken for granted by 1-13 the physically challenged; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Witnessing President Clinton using a catering 1-15 vehicle to board Air Force One has further emphasized the need for 1-16 suitable access to public and private modes of transportation for 1-17 people with physical disabilities; perhaps this incident will 1-18 hasten changes within the transportation industry and provide these 1-19 individuals with the comfort and convenience they both need and 1-20 deserve; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The president has established a temporary, though 1-22 enduring, bond with these citizens, and by experiencing their 1-23 plight firsthand, he has certainly gained a unique perspective into 1-24 the world of the many courageous people who must continually cope 2-1 with their various difficulties; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby extend to President Bill Clinton sincere best 2-4 wishes for a speedy and full recovery from his recent surgery and 2-5 know that this experience will result in a positive effect on the 2-6 lives of America's physically challenged citizens; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for President Clinton as an expression of highest regard 2-10 by the Texas House of Representatives.
