                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a

 1-3     memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Winston and Velma West will have the privilege of

 1-5     commemorating such a momentous event in their lives when they

 1-6     celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on September 5, 1997;

 1-7     and

 1-8           WHEREAS, United in matrimony in San Antonio, the Wests have

 1-9     nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in love and

1-10     respect with each passing year, and they have enriched not only

1-11     their own lives, but the lives of those around them with their

1-12     devotion to each other; and

1-13           WHEREAS, The couple resided in Stockdale and Houston before

1-14     making their home in Floresville, and they have been valued and

1-15     industrious members of each community in which they have lived; Mr.

1-16     West was employed for more than 40 years as a barber until his

1-17     retirement, while Mrs. West has devoted herself to maintaining a

1-18     lovely home for their family throughout their marriage;  and

1-19           WHEREAS, The Wests are the proud parents of three children,

1-20     Steve, Joy, and Lee, and more recently, they have welcomed the

1-21     addition of two grandchildren, Wendy and Wesley Moore, into their

1-22     close-knit family; and

1-23           WHEREAS, For a half-century, Winston and Velma West have

1-24     shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times

 2-1     and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of

 2-2     mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage has been a source

 2-3     of joy and inspiration to the many friends and family of this

 2-4     fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby congratulate Winston and Velma West on the

 2-7     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them

 2-8     warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. West as an expression of high regard by

2-11     the Texas House of Representatives.
