No. 626 75R11326 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the Movin' Mavs of The University of Texas at Arlington for winning 1-3 the 1997 National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball 1-4 Championship; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Facing the defending champion University of 1-6 Wisconsin Warhawks in the title game held March 3, 1997, at 1-7 Southern Illinois University, each member of the Movin' Mavs team 1-8 demonstrated true championship heart as the Mavs earned a 1-9 well-deserved 67-58 victory; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The season's outstanding success was a result of 1-11 total dedication to the team concept by players Enoch Ablorh, T. K. 1-12 Dannelley, Jack Ricks, Cezar Olivas, Javier Gonzalez, Danny Moore, 1-13 Takk Kerst, and Jon Rydberg; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Coach Jim Hayes provided encouragement and 1-15 leadership to his team throughout the course of the campaign and he 1-16 was ably supported in his efforts by trainer Jackie Middleton and 1-17 manager Adrian Cassel; and 1-18 WHEREAS, This group of dedicated young men is a source of 1-19 tremendous pride to the students and faculty at The University of 1-20 Texas at Arlington and their many supporters in the community, and 1-21 their inspirational athletic achievements are indeed worthy of 1-22 special legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate the Movin' Mavs of The University 2-1 of Texas at Arlington on winning the 1997 National Intercollegiate 2-2 Wheelchair Basketball Championship and extend to the team sincere 2-3 best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the team members and coaching staff as an expression 2-6 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
