                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On April 22, 1997, Rotary International's Japanese

 1-2     Group Study Exchange (GSE) team will be in Austin as part of their

 1-3     tour of Central Texas' Rotary District 5870, and it is indeed a

 1-4     pleasure and a privilege to welcome them to the Lone Star State at

 1-5     this time; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Sponsored by The Rotary Foundation, the GSE program

 1-7     promotes international understanding through personal contact

 1-8     between citizens of different nations, and members of the American

 1-9     GSE team that visited Japan in November 1996 will act as hosts for

1-10     the Japanese team during their stay in Texas; and

1-11           WHEREAS, The accomplished men and women who constitute the

1-12     Japanese team bring a wealth of professional experience to this

1-13     exciting endeavor, and their hosts will greatly benefit from their

1-14     time with the group, which includes Ikuko Fujii of Chofu,

1-15     Shimonoseki; Koichi Okada of Hiroshima; and Naoko Kusu, Hideki

1-16     Sugihara, and team leader Kunihiro Toyota, all of Fukuyama; and

1-17           WHEREAS, While traveling the Hill Country, these

1-18     distinguished visitors will share their viewpoints and expertise

1-19     with their Texan counterparts, and in doing so they will forge

1-20     greater bonds of understanding as well as gain valuable insight

1-21     into the workings of business around the world; now, therefore, be

1-22     it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby welcome the members of Rotary International's

 2-1     Japanese Group Study Exchange team to the Texas State Capitol and

 2-2     extend to them sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and successful

 2-3     visit; and, be it further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared

 2-5     for the members of the team as an expression of high regard by the

 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
