R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     E. B. Reyna Elementary School in the La Joya Independent School

 1-3     District for its outstanding service to the youth of its community;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Founded in 1990 to fill a growing need for quality

 1-6     primary education in the area, the school currently offers a wide

 1-7     array of programs to enhance the potential of all its students; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, One of its innovative programs, Building Bridges,

 1-9     helps to promote interaction between children and their caretakers

1-10     before the youngsters reach school age, and the campus-wide Good

1-11     Life Program teaches students to accept responsibility for their

1-12     actions and make appropriate choices; and

1-13           WHEREAS, In addition to these programs and the highly

1-14     acclaimed Bilingual Classroom for Recent Immigrant Students, the

1-15     teaching staff at Reyna Elementary offers many other initiatives to

1-16     make learning fun and interesting for their students, including the

1-17     Creative Productive Thinking for Gifted and Talented Students

1-18     program, the Students Need a Push and Pat initiative, and such

1-19     popular reading incentives as the Author's Birthday Club, a Fairy

1-20     Tale Character Parade, and Drop Everything and Read Time; and

1-21           WHEREAS, The school's student council sponsors civic

1-22     activities so that children can become more involved in the

1-23     community, and other campus groups, such as Kids Against Drugs, the

1-24     After School Fun Club, the Computer Club, and the Library Club,

 2-1     have made life richer for many young Texans; and

 2-2           WHEREAS, Reyna Elementary School has quickly established

 2-3     itself as a leader in the education community, for it has been

 2-4     honored with the Texas Successful Schools Award and has been named

 2-5     both a Texas Early Childhood Elementary Mentor School and a

 2-6     National Blue Ribbon School; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, The school could not have achieved the success that

 2-8     it has today were it not for its devoted administrators and staff,

 2-9     who have worked diligently to make every student a winner; now,

2-10     therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-12     Legislature hereby honor E. B. Reyna Elementary School for the

2-13     vital service it provides to the community and commend the many

2-14     dedicated and caring individuals that have made E. B. Reyna the

2-15     exceptional academic institution that it is today; and, be it

2-16     further

2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-18     prepared for E. B. Reyna Elementary School as an expression of high

2-19     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
